It is the world’s largest archipelago, consisting of thousands of islands. Indonesia shares land borders with Malaysia on the island of Borneo, Papua New Guinea on the island of New Guinea, and Timor-Leste on the island of Timor. It lies near Singapore to the northwest and Australia to the south.
